Job summary

Black Bear Diner is seeking a prep/c Line Cook to join our kitchen team. Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, plating, and finishing menu items to our standards while maintaining food safety and proper temperatures.

You will stock and rotate products, portion foods, and keep the station clean and organized. The role requires teamwork, clear communication, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Patience, good humor, enthusiasm, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential.
• Strong communication with managers, kitchen and dining room staff is required.
• Knowledge of food safety requirements and proper food handling is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, plate and finish all food items according to standards.
• Check and maintain temperatures, date and label products, rotate stock properly.
• Stock and maintain food at line stations for smooth service.
• Portion foods per standard sizes and recipe specs.
• Maintain clean and sanitary work station areas and equipment.
• Assist in off-peak prep and complete side work for the station and shift.
• Close the kitchen correctly and follow closing checklists.
• Assist others in closing stations and kitchen.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.
