Vandelay Companies’ D.L. Mack’s is seeking a Line Cook to join our Chicago-inspired tavern team in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.

You will execute recipes with precision, maintain a clean workstation, and collaborate with culinary and front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional dining experiences. We value consistency, craftsmanship, and hospitality, with opportunities to grow within Vandelay’s culinary program.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 1–2 years of culinary experience in a full-service, high-volume restaurant.
• Strong work ethic with a passion for delivering high-quality food and guest experiences.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Solid understanding of culinary fundamentals, including cooking methods and knife skills.
• Food handler certification as required by state and local regulations.
• Desire to learn, grow, and refine skills within Vandelay’s culinary program.

Responsibilities

• Execute all menu recipes with precision, consistency, and adherence to Vandelay’s culinary standards.
• Prepare dishes according to guest requests, portion guidelines, temperature specifications, and company timing standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked station throughout service, following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tickets at once, ensuring accuracy and seamless pacing during high-volume periods.
• Collaborate closely with the culinary team and front-of-house partners to support smooth, efficient service.
• Follow proper cooking techniques, knife skills, and equipment usage to ensure quality and safety.
• Uphold plate presentation standards so every dish leaving the kitchen reflects Vandelay’s commitment to excellence.
• Assist with daily prep, stock rotation, and storage to maintain freshness and consistency across all menu items.
• Execute opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures according to kitchen guidelines.
