Job Description

Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $18.25 to $20.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Works effectively with team members to deliver exceptional customer service, focusing on creating a positive experience for children and all guests.
  2. Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  3. Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  4. Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.
  5. Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
  6. Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives.
  7. Operate and care for equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, walk-ins, etc.
  8. Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area, including sweeping, mopping, washing, scrubbing, and polishing kitchen surfaces.
  10. Assist with catering and special events as needed.
  11. Adhere to the uniform policy.
  12. Adheres to Aramark and client companies, San Diego County, and OSHA safety policies and procedures for proper food safety, sanitation, storage and disposal.

Qualifications
  1. 2+ years' experience as a cook or in a related role required.
  2. Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage.
  3. Able to pass a Food Handler certification exam.
  4. Sufficient education or training to read, write, count and follow verbal and written instructions.
  5. Be able to work quickly and concisely under pressure.
  6. Available to work holidays and weekends as well as shorter or longer hours due to business volume.
Physical Requirements
  1. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and stooping.
  2. Expect constant walking and standing during shifts.
  3. Occasional crawling and climbing.
  4. Frequently lift and carry items weighing 20 to 40 pounds, including lifting trays over the shoulder.
  5. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
  6. The role will require wearing uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  7. Ability to work inside kitchen area, interacting with heated equipment, various foods, loud noise, chemicals and other at risk conditions.
  8. Exposure to extreme temperature changes.
