Job Summary

Under supervision, prepares food to the exact specifications of the Chef. Duties include setting up the workstation, prepping food, cooking, cleaning, and stocking.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares workstation before each service, ensuring all supplies are available and ready. This includes preparing some items in advance or stocking the station with plates and bowls.
  • Preps food for service, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces.
  • Cooks items requested from the station, coordinating with other cooks to ensure food is ready at the right time, temperature, and order.
  • Cleans station and assists with kitchen cleanup, including disposing of garbage, cleaning utensils, pots, pans, and surfaces.
  • Handles leftover food, maintaining food safety standards, including proper storage, disposal, or return to inventory.
  • Stocks the kitchen, assists in unloading deliveries, and reports low inventory to supervisors.
  • Complies with OSHA and Daniel Island Club safety requirements.
  • Ability to stand for most of the shift, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work near hot surfaces.
  • Prepares food following food handler guidelines and communicates effectively with staff and supervisors.
  • Operates standard commercial kitchen equipment such as stovetops, grills, ovens, refrigerators, etc.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment, flexible to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of training as a Cook or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of basic culinary techniques (frying, steaming, sautéing, broiling, baking, etc.) and knife skills (dicing, julienne, brunoise, allumette, etc.).
  • Proficient in using various kitchen equipment like convection ovens, gas ranges, salamanders, broilers, fryers, grills, slicers, and rice cookers.
