Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head is currently looking for a Line Cook to join our team!
Purpose: The Line Cook is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef with the overall dining program and the execution of all aspects of the culinary experience at the property, including daily restaurant operations, catering, and special events. The Cook will maintain a clean and organized kitchen and train co-workers as needed.
This position requires good judgment and problem-solving skills. The Cook reports to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef and supports an exceptional dining experience. The Cook ensures compliance with food quality and safety standards and embodies the Latitude Margaritaville Lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Kitchen
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with residents and team members.
- Stay current with industry practices aligned with the Latitude Margaritaville Brand.
- Assist in delivering vibrant menu items reflecting the Latitude Margaritaville Lifestyle.
- Be versatile and capable of working in any kitchen position.
- Follow all safety procedures and health standards.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Have basic cooking techniques knowledge: braising, sautéing, roasting, grilling, recipes, ratios, portion controls, etc.
- Basic knife skills and knowledge of proper use for each knife.
Daily Operations and Customer Experience
- Participate in catering and food & beverage functions.
- Assist in prep and daily kitchen setup.
- Maintain high energy and passion during service.
- Manage inventory and production efficiently.
- Understand inventory controls within culinary guidelines.
- Create a positive environment that embodies the Margaritaville Latitude Lifestyle.
- Comply with all local regulations.
- Work in various service styles (a la carte, buffet, etc.).
- Keep the kitchen spotless and maintain hygiene standards.
Technical Competencies
Education
- High school diploma required.
- Culinary institute degree preferred.
- ServSafe certification required.
Experience
- 1-3 years in a similar role.
- Experience in restaurants, hotels, resorts, or clubs.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Willing to work nights and weekends.
- Stay updated on culinary trends.
- Follow instructions carefully.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving ability and teamwork skills.
- Enjoy fun and energetic work environment.
Food Handling/Sanitation
- Knowledge of sanitation and health regulations.
- Understand time & temperature controls, cooling, and reheating procedures.
- Practice proper hygiene.
- Use the 'clean as you go' method.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 50+ pounds.
- Able to kneel, stoop, twist, bend, and stand for long periods.
- Maintain equipment knowledge and operation.
Compensation/Work Schedule
- $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
- Full-time (30+ hours weekly)
- Weekend & holiday availability required
- Open availability
