Job summary

Famous Dave's BBQ in Portland, OR is seeking Line Cooks to join our Authentic, Award-Winning BBQ team. Learn in-house smoked, made from scratch recipes and serve Famous Food while upholding food safety standards. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, prep, monitor ticket times, and keep the station clean.

Must be 18+, previous line cook experience preferred. We value punctuality and teamwork. This role requires standing for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; opportunities

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items according to recipes and specifications within cook time requirements.
• Operate cooking equipment such as grills, fryers, smokers, ovens and stoves.
• Complete assigned prep work and daily/weekly cleaning tasks.
• Maintain sanitary and safe food handling at all times.
• Set up workstation and support teammates during busy periods.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Do you want to be part of an Authentic, Award-Winning and Legendary BBQ Team? Do you want to develop the skills of a Famous Pit Master? We are looking for team players who have the desire to learn about our in-house smoked, made from scratch recipes and wants to serve up Famous Food! Line Cooks ensure our Guests receive the Famous experience they expect from our food with each delicious bite. You’ll also make sure that food safety standards are followed. Famous Dave’s expects you to be punctual, to support your fellow Team Members when we are smokin’ busy, and complete side duties that include but may not be limited to preparing food, monitor ticket times, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare menu items according to Famous Dave’s recipes, plate presentations and specifications within cook time requirements


• Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by Guest and prepare and cook food according to instructions


• Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, smokers, ovens, stoves, and dishwashers


• Complete all assigned prep work


• Practice sanitary and safe food handling at all times


• Set up work station


• Complete assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects


• Be a core team member in a fast-paced kitchen

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age


• Previous Line Cook or cooking experience preferred

Physical Demands:

• Must have the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, pots, pans, etc., up to 50 pounds in weight


• Ability to place plates, utensils, pans and cases on high and low shelves


• Mobility required during the entire shift


• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to eight (8) hours in length
