Description

Are you ready to join a kitchen staff that is appreciated and encouraged? Come join our food and beverage team at Sun Outdoors Orange Beach, the Gulf Coast's premier RV resort! As a Line Cook, in addition to your base hourly rate, you'll earn up to an additional $3.00 per hour by sharing in our food service tip pool.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, such as chopping vegetables, cutting meats, and preparing sauces. Follow recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency and quality of dishes. Cook food to order and ensure that each plate meets quality standards before serving.
  • Cook food to the appropriate level of doneness and garnish plates according to menu specifications. Ensure that all food is served in a timely manner and to the restaurant’s presentation standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen to promote efficiency.
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and portion control. Resolve any issues with food preparation or cooking, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, temperature control, and hygiene practices. Clean and sanitize kitchen tools, equipment, and work areas regularly. Ensure compliance with health regulations and restaurant safety standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or need for reordering supplies. Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to maintain kitchen efficiency. Communicate effectively with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth coordination between the kitchen and dining area.
  • Operate kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, ovens, etc.) safely and efficiently.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or general manager

Schedule

Work in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen environment. Flexible schedule, with holidays and weekends required, including evenings, and/or holiday shifts based on business demands.

Experience/Skills/Education

  • Previous experience as a line cook or in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions, multitask effectively, and work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other kitchen and service staff.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Must be able to pass the Safe Food Handler Certificate Program within 60 days from date of hire
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and presentation
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional appearance
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and internet
