Job summary

The Omaha Marriott Downtown, part of Marcus Hotels & Resorts, seeks a dedicated Cook to join our downtown Omaha team. You will prepare and cook all menu items, expediting orders accurately and quickly to ensure exceptional guest experiences.

With at least 3 years of cooking experience, you will handle multiple stations, follow recipes, and maintain sanitation while working varied shifts. This role offers growth in a premier hotel environment.

Qualifications

• 3 years of cooking experience; culinary or apprenticeship program preferred; high school degree or equivalent required.
• Able to work varied shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in extreme temperatures.
• Proficiency in sauté, line, and broiler stations; ability to read orders from a POS system.
• Familiarity with seafood stocks, grilling, sautéing, deep frying, and cold food prep.
• Ability to obtain sanitation, liquor service, or food service certifications.
• Knowledge of proper cooking procedures, knife handling, and use of kitchen tools.
• Ability to read orders for the point of sale system and understand English.

• Correctly store food, use proper rotation and dating and labeling.
• Determine inventory of food items and requisition from storeroom.
• Set up equipment needed for preparation prior to service.

• Maintain communication between cooks, wait staff and management.

What will you be doing?

• Maintain all cleanliness and sanitation of cooking area along with personal hygiene.
• Maintain communication between the other cooks, wait staff and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• 3 years of cooking experience required; culinary or apprenticeship program preferred, high school degree or equivalent required.

• Ability to cut, dice, julienne, and prepare fresh produce with proper techniques.
• Familiarity with seafood stocks, grilling, sautéing, deep frying, and cold food prep.
• Ability to obtain necessary sanitation, liquor service, or food service certifications.
• Knowledge of proper cooking procedures, knife handling, and use of kitchen tools.
• Ability to read orders for the point of sales system and understand English.
