Job summary

Havana Cabana in Key West, FL, is seeking a Line Cook to join its fast-paced kitchen team. You will work on stations such as grilling, sautéing, and salads, following recipes and maintaining consistent quality for a Cuban-inspired resort experience.

Ideal candidates have 2-year culinary training or related experience, at least 1 year in a high-volume kitchen, and the physical ability to lift 50 lbs. Strong communication and organization are essential to keep service smooth.

Qualifications

• 2-year culinary degree or related work experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in a high-volume restaurant or hotel kitchen.
• Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review previous day’s production and butcher counts to establish daily production levels.
• Set up and service lunch and/or dinner lines and cold stations to meet needs.
• Identify and select cuts of meats, poultry, seafood, dairy, fruits, and vegetables for prep.
• Cook all foods to order, ensuring each dish matches customer specifications.
• Prepare additional food items such as appetizers, sides, and specials.
• Garnish hot and cold plates to maintain presentation standards.
• Ensure efficient kitchen operation with high production and timing standards.
• Requisition supplies to maintain production flow and reduce waste.
• Assist with inventory control and tracking stock levels.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and sanitize equipment and work areas.
• Assist in training new associates and promote a collaborative kitchen team.

What we are looking for:

A Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food in a fast-paced kitchen environment. They work on specific stations, such as grilling, sautéing, or preparing salads, following recipes and maintaining consistency in food quality. Line cooks ensure the kitchen remains organized, clean, and that food is prepared in a timely manner while adhering to safety and sanitation standards. They may also assist with inventory, cleaning, and other kitchen tasks as needed.
