Job summary

Mambo Seafood Restaurants is seeking a Cook to join our high-volume Houston restaurant team. You will adhere to the company’s recipes, portions, cooking methods, policies and procedures to help our operation run smoothly and exceed guest expectations.

The Cook will set up and maintain the workstation, stock inventory, and ensure that orders leave the kitchen on time and at high quality. English proficiency is required; Spanish-speaking is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, write and understand simple English instructions.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Food Handler Certificate required.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required.
• Must be a team player and customer-service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Cooks various foods in accordance with Company recipes, policies, and procedures.
• Ensures that food orders leave the kitchen simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
• Sets up and maintains sufficient level of products at workstation.
• Stocks inventory and rotates food products and ingredients properly.
• Complies with food safety and sanitation standards and maintains sanitary and safe work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Mambo Seafood is a high-volume iconic Houston restaurant brand that has been in business since 1996. Mambo has 13 restaurants in the Greater Houston area, 2 locations in San Antonio, and one franchised operation in the Rio Grande Valley. Mambo Seafood is poised for rapid growth!

Summary: The Cook is a vital part of the restaurant operations. The Cook adheres to the Company’s recipes, portions, cooking methods, policies and procedures. The Cook will anticipate and exceed expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintains a welcoming and position and professional approach with coworkers.
• Practices Company food quality principles.
• Cooks various foods in accordance with Company recipes, policies, and procedures.
• Ensures that food orders leave the kitchen simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
• Sets up and maintains sufficient level of products at workstation.
• Stocks inventory and stores and rotates food products and ingredients properly.
• Complies with food safety and sanitation standards and maintains sanitary and safe work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• Ability to speak, write and understand simple instructions in English.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required.
• Must have a Food Handler Certificate.
• Prior food service industry experience is helpful, but not required.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
• Must be a team player and customer-service oriented.

Computer Skills:

• Basic personal computer skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Stands and walks on uneven, slippery, and/or wet surface for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Speaks and listens in-person to staff regarding food and safety matters for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Routinely lifts, stoops, kneels, bends, pushes, and pulls up to 50 pounds, and reaches overhead.
• Routinely carries full-service tray.
• Cuts, measures, and mixes food items in a wet environment.
• Performs moderately strenuous activity for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Performs other physical requirements necessary to perform duties and responsibilities.
• Moderate noise, fast pace, high traffic, high temperatures and ability to tolerate cleaning solutions
