Job description

Italian Village Restaurantsis hiring a dedicatedLine CookforSotto, a restaurant that is part of a 3-unit historic, family-owned and operated restaurant group.

The Line Cooks’ role is to support the chef, sous chef and kitchen team. You’ll be responsible for stocking your cooking area with all the essential items, your station’s workflow, and getting meals out on time. You'll play a key role in contributing to our guests’ satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Line Cook's core responsibilities include setting up and stocking station(s), preparing food for service (cooking and prepping), following recipes, following all instructions from chefs, and cleaning and breaking down the station at the end of the night.
  • Line Cooks will cook food by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods
  • Line Cooks will answer, report, and follow all chef instructions
  • Line Cooks will set up their station at the beginning of a shift and clean and breakdown their station at the end of their shift
  • Line Cooks will complete required mise en place or prep list in a timely fashion
  • Line Cooks will maintain food cost goals through proactive awareness of station par levels, food rotation, proper labeling and waste management
  • Line cooks will adhere to the recipe and food presentation specifications and portion control
  • Line Cooks will comply with all safety, sanitation, and nutrition regulations and standards
  • Line Cooks will maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests
  • Line Cooks will work together with other Line Cooks to cover all kitchen stations, if needed
  • Line Cooks will understand and comply with all restaurant policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Ability to get along with others - pleasant personality and neat, clean appearance
  • At least 18 years of age and legally allowed to work in the United States
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions well and accept constructive feedback on job performance
  • Ability to communicate scheduling needs, equipment issues, and any other concerns with the Chef
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends regularly
  • Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30-50 pounds frequently while moving up and down stairs
  • Ability to work standing on your feet for up to 8-10 hours daily
  • Ability to perform tasks in a timely and efficient manner with a focus on quality
  • Ability to perform more than one task at a time and prioritize
  • Ability to move and work fast, but also be thoughtful and gentle as to not break plate and glassware
  • Ability to go up and down up to 3 flights of stairs as needed to perform tasks
  • Ability to reach up to 6 feet overhead (can use crate) or bend over and stoop to the ground while cleaning
  • Ability to work in spaces with slick, often wet floors in a careful manner
  • Ability to work in a confined, crowded, fast-moving space with high noise and light levels

Shift availability:

  • We need 2pm-10pm availability Tuesday through Saturday.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
