Job summary

Mambo Seafood Restaurants in Houston, TX is seeking a Line Cook to join our fast-paced kitchen team. You will prepare foods following our recipes and procedures, ensuring high quality and timely service.

Requirements include a Food Handler Certificate, ability to work long hours standing, and basic math for measuring ingredients. English proficiency is essential; Spanish is a plus. We offer benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• Ability to speak, write and understand simple instructions in English.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required.
• Must have a Food Handler Certificate.
• Prior food service industry experience is helpful, but not required.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
• Must be a team player and customer-service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Cooks various foods in accordance with Company recipes, policies, and procedures.
• Ensures that food orders leave the kitchen simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
• Sets up and maintains a sufficient level of products at workstation.
• Stocks inventory and stores and rotates food products and ingredients properly.
• Complies with food safety and sanitation standards and maintains sanitary and safe work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary:

The Cook is a vital part of the restaurant operations. The Cook adheres to the Company’s recipes, portions, cooking methods, policies and procedures. The Cook will anticipate and exceed expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintains a welcoming and position and professional approach with coworkers.
• Practices Company food quality principles.
• Cooks various foods in accordance with Company recipes, policies, and procedures.
• Ensures that food orders leave the kitchen simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
• Sets up and maintain sufficient level of products at workstation.
• Stocks inventory and stores and rotates food products and ingredients properly.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Basic personal computer skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Stands and walks on uneven, slippery, and/or wet surface for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Speaks and listens in-person to staff regarding food and safety matters for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Routinely lifts, stoops, kneels, bends, pushes, and pulls up to 50 pounds, and reaches overhead.
• Routinely carries full-service tray.
• Cuts, measures, and mixes food items in a wet environment.
• Performs moderately strenuous activity for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Performs other physical requirements necessary to perform duties and responsibilities.
• Moderate noise, fast pace, high traffic, high temperatures and ability to tolerate cleaning solutions
