Job summary

The Village at Gainesville is seeking a Line Cook to prepare high-quality meals for residents in a caring, home-like setting. You will collaborate with the Executive Sous Chef and Production Supervisor to craft cold appetizers, salads, and garnishes, ensuring consistency and safety.

Responsibilities include food prep, temperature checks, and maintaining records while upholding sanitation standards. Part-time schedule up to 30 hours/week with opportunities for growth in a supportive team

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior kitchen or line cook experience preferred.
  • Strong sanitation, cleanliness, and safety awareness.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food according to safety and sanitation guidelines and company policies
  • Prepare and assemble cold appetizers, salads, and accompaniments according to recipes and prep sheets
  • Perform advance preparation tasks to ensure smooth meal service
  • Complete food temperature checks to ensure food safety
  • Taste and evaluate all prepared items for quality control
  • Maintain accurate preparation records and store food properly
  • Communicate any stock shortages to the supervisor
  • Clean and sanitize work areas and cooking equipment
  • Ensure all cold food preparation meets established procedures
  • Maintain a neat and organized workstation
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including state, county, and HRS standards
  • Handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Attend required training and in-service education sessions
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
  • Assist with resident evacuation in emergencies when necessary
  • Deliver excellent customer service to residents, guests, and staff
  • Provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Overview:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to push, lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk most of the shift
  • Have sufficient dexterity to handle food/equipment efficiently & safely
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Works in clean, well lighted, well-ventilated kitchen and dining room
  • Must be able to withstand heat and changes in temperature when going in/out of walk-in cooler and freezer
  • Possible hazards include cuts from utensils, burns from hot equipment, falls due to wet floors
  • Performance of job tasks will involve exposure to cleaning chemicals requiring precautions
  • Capable of standing and maneuvering independently and safely around work area
