J. Alexander's in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Line Cook to join our contemporary American kitchen. You will work in a fast-paced, scratch-made environment, focusing on proper food temps, presentation, and adherence to our standards.

Open-kitchen layout fosters teamwork with expo, prep, and culinary staff. We value hard work, attention to detail, and growth. Must be 18+ to operate kitchen equipment; prior kitchen experience is preferred though not required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age to operate kitchen equipment.
• 1 yr. previous kitchen / culinary / chef experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience and knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to knives, slicer, mixer, stoves, and ovens required.

Responsibilities

• Operate in a professional, fast-paced scratch kitchen.
• Cook line and prep tasks with attention to food presentation and execution.
• Maintain proper food temps and follow company specifications while keeping station clean.
• Coordinate with expo, assemblers, and management to ensure timely ticket completion.
• Assist opening and closing duties and follow sanitation protocols.

Job Description: Our restaurants operate professional, fast-paced, scratch kitchens. We hire line and prep cooks who understand high expectations for food presentation and execution. Our restaurants typically include an open-kitchen layout with visibility from the dining room. Coordination of designated positions requires strong communication and teamwork with other employees, including assembler, expo, and all members of management. This position must manage ticket orders for proteins and is responsible for the execution of proper food temps and following company specifications while maintaining a clean station and workspace. Proper sanitation protocols must be followed. Responsibilities also include opening duties and closing cleaning duties.
