Join to apply for the Line Cook role at Blackberry Farm

Line cooks will be responsible for all aspects of food preparation and execution to the exact specifications of the establishment, chef, and guest, including final presentation for delivery to guests. They will be expected to skillfully apply culinary techniques including basic knife skills and demonstrate a working knowledge of all kitchen equipment.

Must have the flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Shifts:

  • AM Shift: 7AM - 3PM
  • PM Shift: 3PM - 11PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare food as assigned by Sous Chefs including basic vegetable preparation, vinaigrettes and salads, stocks, meat fabrication, sauce, and other techniques.
  • Clean work area and kitchen during and at the end of shift.
  • Play a central role in the production of finished dishes during service periods.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries to the kitchen.
  • Coordinate production over multiple days and plan for a smooth transition when passing station over to another team member.
  • Know basic food product identification.
  • Maintain organized and sanitary workstation.
  • Taste food for quality assurance.
  • Follow recipes and take direction.
  • Plan the day to accomplish multiple tasks.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures.

Attendance is essential for this role.

Must work well with team members, managers, and interact with guests.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and Experience:

  • Culinary degree or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of line cook experience.
  • Basic understanding of food handling procedures.
  • Basic knife skills.
  • Experience in a high-level kitchen preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand recipes.
  • Effective communication with team and guests.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Exercise judgment and make decisions based on knowledge and company goals.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Stand for long periods.
  • Operate vehicle or golf cart safely.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Professional kitchen setting.
  • Located on 1,400 acres of High Hampton property.
