Job summary

Martin’s Family Bakery in Valdosta, GA, is seeking a Line Control Supervisor to oversee packaging bread and roll products. You will start and adjust packaging machinery, coordinate with maintenance, verify dates, and ensure adherence to safety and food quality standards.

As a supervisor, you will lead packaging staff, plan shifts, train employees, monitor production records, and collaborate with production leadership to meet schedules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• 3–5 years related packaging experience.
• Ability to pass Food Safety HACCP training.
• Bakery/manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Starts and adjusts packaging machinery; requests repairs from maintenance.
• Verifies correct date and pricing on product.
• Inspects products and coordinates actions for substandard items.
• Observes packaging operations and ensures conformance to specs.
• Plan breaks and coordinate across packaging departments.
• Supervise and train packaging staff; address problems.
• Maintain time and production records; monitor orders.
• Enforce safety, food safety, and GMP regulations.

As a member of the Martin’s Family, a Line Control Supervisor overseesand coordinates activities of workers engaged in packaging bread and roll products for shipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Starts and adjusts packaging machinery; requests necessary repairs from the maintenance department.
• Verifies correct date and pricing on product.
• Inspects products during packaging process and coordinates further action for substandard product with production supervisor.
• Observes packaging operations and inspects baskets and packages to verify conformance to specifications.
• Designates breaks in packaging and make-up departments.
• Confers with coworkers to coordinate activities of individual departments.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Performs activities of workers supervised.
• Performs first level employee counseling.
• Requisitions containers and other supplies for delivery to work stations.
• Maintains time and production records.
• Monitors production order to ascertain type and quantity of product and other packaging requirements.
• Supports management decision with production schedules.
• Maintains cleanliness of packaging department.
• Adheres to and enforces safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly supervises production employees in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work of packaging employee.
• Trains as applicable and assesses training results and performance of employees.
• Addresses employee complaints and resolves problems.
• Coaches/Counsels/Administers discipline as necessary.
• Assists in the hiring process of packaging level employees as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or
• Three to five years related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to successfully pass Food Safety HACCP training and compentency test.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bakery/manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for long periods of time. Employees uses hands to finger, handle or feel’ reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. Employee is required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and/or crawl. Employee isregularly required to lift and/ or move up to 15 pounds, andoccasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
