Job summary

Tampa Electric Company is seeking a Line Clearance Arborist to oversee and coordinate line clearance and vegetation management for its transmission and distribution systems in the Central Service Area of Florida, Tampa. The role includes planning, contractor management, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Required: HS Diploma or GED, 3+ years in utility line clearance, and ISA/Utility Specialist certification (or within one year).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• ISA Arborist or Utility Specialist certification or must be obtained within one year of starting.
• Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Horticulture or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of utility line clearance and vegetation management experience.
• Experience leading multiple tree trimming crews in a utility environment (1 year).
• Knowledge of environmental, regulatory and arborist compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily planning and monitoring of line clearance and vegetation management activities.
• Review work orders and develop specifications, contractor selection, permits, and coordination with project leaders.
• Monitor work units, man-hours, costs, and verify contractor invoices.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, regulatory, and FPSC/NERC/SERC requirements.
• Coordinate transmission right-of-way mowing and herbicide programs.
• Oversee administration of herbicide application programs including budgeting and contractor quality.
• Liaise with TEC and contractors to resolve daily issues.
