Job Description:

Our Cable Splicing Technicians start off earning between $14.25 to $28.56 per hour. With our wage opportunities, our average starting earnings begin at $59,410 per year. Individual salaries within this range may vary based on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.

GENERAL DUTIES

A Cable Splicing Technician works on all types of cable in manholes, trenches, and on poles/ladders. Connects, repairs, and rearranges cable conductors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Splicing and waterproofing coverings of various types
  2. Reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing prints, diagrams, or schematics; receiving work orders and instructions
  3. Using hand tools and electrical/mechanical equipment
  4. Driving company vehicle
  5. Performing repair and maintenance on outside plant facilities
  6. Positioning SBC as the premier provider of choice
  7. Performing other duties as assigned
  8. Wearing and following safety practices and using appropriate safety equipment

Our Cable Splicing Technicians must have:

  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to meet a 275 lbs weight limit due to safety restrictions
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation Physical
  • Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs
