Job summary

CREA, LLC is seeking a Vice President, Underwriting in Indianapolis, IN to lead LIHTC underwriting for affordable housing investments. The role requires evaluating financial models, market studies, and credit risk, and preparing investment recommendations for senior leadership and committees.

The VP will manage a portfolio of transactions, collaborate with Acquisitions, Syndications, Asset Management, lenders, and developers, and mentor junior staff, while traveling approximately 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Minimum eight years of applicable multifamily real estate experience with LIHTC or similar underwriting.
• Ability to underwrite LIHTC or other complex deals independently.
• Strong understanding of affordable housing finance and financing structures.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting efforts for LIHTC opportunities from screening through closing and funding.
• Manage a portfolio of active transactions with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Evaluate financial models, development budgets, operating pro formas, market studies, and financing structures.
• Perform debt sizing, cash flow projections, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessment.
• Prepare underwriting memoranda and investment recommendations for committees; present findings.
