Job summary

Fannie Mae in Washington, D.C. seeks an experienced LIHTC Underwriter, Lead Associate to oversee underwriting and closing of affordable multifamily proprietary investments.

You will work with our syndicator partners to ensure sound investments and compliance with credit and regulatory guidelines. The role requires 4+ years of LIHTC equity experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, evolving team.

Qualifications

  • 4 years LIHTC Equity experience with a track record underwriting and closing LIHTC proprietary investments.
  • Experience modeling and structuring LIHTC proprietary investments.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to influence through negotiating, persuading others and facilitating meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and close LIHTC proprietary investments with syndicator partners.
  • Maintain investment review and approval process with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess risk of equity investments to ensure guidelines are met.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to develop milestones for execution.
  • Assist leadership in updating processes related to legal, risk, operations, finance, accounting and audit.
  • Travel to visit prospective investments and markets (up to 25%).

Since restarting its Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) platform in 2018, Fannie Mae has invested over $5 billion in proprietary and multi-investor funds.
