Job description

Purpose

Responsible for managing the lightweight belting product line and growing sales. Develop new business and maintain current customers.

Assesses the market and identifies opportunities for new customers and products. Leads the effort to understand the customer's needs and define requirements for new products. Manage the activities to support the commercial launch of a new product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct sales activities to develop new lightweight business.
  • Make regular customer contact to achieve sales goals, promote customer goodwill and take actions to increase sales.
  • Takes telephone calls from distributors, OEM's and end-users, and processes requests using available resources and materials.
  • Prepare pricing and discounts on standard product lines.
  • Collect information regarding applications, parameters, drawings, and make a recommendation; works with appropriate GRT personnel to determine the correct product.
  • Coordinate with engineering and various departments regarding product development, service recommendations, product test results, customer complaints, inspection methods, and costs of new product development in relation to sales.
  • Completes quote follow-up in conjunction with the internal sales team to turn quotes into orders.
  • Conduct training/capabilities programs for inside sales, distribution, and end users as required.
  • Evaluates urgency of the customer requirement and coordinates with production to obtain lead time delivery dates, expedite deliveries, or move up dates on new or existing orders.
  • Conduct customer surveys to evaluate market conditions and present the voice of the customer.
  • Prepare month-end sales data and other sales data as requested by the sales manager. Measure sales efforts against goals.
  • Represents the company through memberships in trade associations and societies and assists in creating standards for the industry.
  • Keeps VP Sales fully informed on all critical situations regarding quality, price, delivery, or any sales problems.

  • Overtime hours and weekend work may be required, including overnight travel
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and education.

Language Ability

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and work instructions.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.

Computer Skills

The incumbent needs a basic understanding of computers and printers

Certificates and Licences
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Work Environment

This role works primarily in the field, visiting customer facilities such as manufacturing plants, warehouses, and distribution centers. Most days involve travel within the assigned territory, meeting with customers, evaluating applications, and providing product solutions.

Work includes walking production floors, observing machinery, and occasionally accessing elevated areas for belt inspections. PPE is required as needed. Some time is spent remotely or in the office preparing quotes, coordinating orders, and managing customer accounts.

The environment is fast-paced, independent, and customer-driven-ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships and being on the move.
