Tampa Electric Company is seeking a Lighting Field Engineering Technician (LFET) to design and coordinate outdoor lighting and distribution projects for residential and commercial customers in Tampa, FL. The LFET will render photometric designs, manage work requests, and ensure code compliance through TEC systems.
Responsibilities include liaising with customers and contractors, performing cost estimates, and coordinating with GIS, SAP, AutoCAD, and Visual tools.
The Lighting Field Engineering Technician ("LFET") supports Tampa Electric Company's ("TEC") lighting and distribution system design, construction, and maintenance projects. Utilizing standard company specifications and materials, LFET's design the most electrically efficient and cost-effective outdoor lighting systems for new and existing residential and commercial customers. These designs are not limited to lighting, as they typically will also include the expansion, replacement, relocation, and maintenance of existing distribution systems required to serve the outdoor lighting system.
The LFET serves as the main point of contact to customers, governmental agencies, TEC departments and contractors, while overseeing construction and verifying that customer requirements are met throughout the project. The LFET processes work requests in TEC's work management system ("WorkPro"), determines customer requirements, completes designs in TEC's designing program ("Visual") and distribution map maintenance in TEC's geographical interface system ("GIS"), calculates estimates ("Tool Kit") and wind loads ("Pole Foreman"), obtains necessary work permits and coordinates activities with TEC departments and contractors to ensure in the successful scheduling and completion of projects.

Lighting Field Engineering Technician (LFET-1)
Works under general supervision on routine assignments with projects of smaller scope and transition to more complex work, follows established policies, methods, and standards.
Required: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Required: Valid Florida State driver's license and safe driving record
Must complete TEC Safety Training, including safely accessing and inspecting energized equipment.
Required: Minimum of four years of related work experience; Related work experience may include Lighting Repairman, Distribution Design Technician, Drafter, Lineman Journeyman.
A college degree or technical certification may substitute for a portion of the minimum experience requirement.
Experience as a GIS Technician, Lighting Repairman, Distribution Design Technician, Drafter, Lineman, Journeyman and/or line worker.
Required: Technical knowledge relative to the Engineering Test Battery and procedural understanding necessary in creating, interpreting and/or processing of work orders for customer construction projects; Solid communication and other interpersonal skills are required to effectively relate to customers, team members, and contractors; Must have the analytical abilities to identify problem situations and solve those of a routine nature, and/or have the initiative to find resolution of more complex issues through appropriate means or resources as needed; Must have the ability to competently utilize various computer applications to complete day-to-day job assignments efficiently.
