Job summary

Tampa Electric Company is seeking a Lighting Field Engineering Technician (LFET) to design and coordinate outdoor lighting and distribution projects for residential and commercial customers in Tampa, FL. The LFET will render photometric designs, manage work requests, and ensure code compliance through TEC systems.

Responsibilities include liaising with customers and contractors, performing cost estimates, and coordinating with GIS, SAP, AutoCAD, and Visual tools.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Florida driver's license and safe driving record.
• Must complete TEC Safety Training, including safely accessing and inspecting energized equipment.
• Minimum of four years of related work experience; college degree or technical certification may substitute for part of experience.

Responsibilities

• Meet with commercial and residential customers to identify project needs and requirements.
• Evaluate integrity of TEC equipment and determine replacements or upgrades.
• Complete photometric designs in Visual with AutoCAD site plans and specified fixtures/poles.
• Process work requests in WorkPro, manage schedules, and produce construction prints for TEC projects.
• Use GIS to map proposed and existing electrical features and determine materials and labor needs.
• Produce construction cost estimates and communicate CIAC charges as required.
• Assist with contract signatures for multi-year agreements and coordinate with related TEC departments.
• Support plan-of-the-week meetings and maintain updates on construction schedules.
