Tampa Electric is seeking a Field Inspector – SPP to monitor and evaluate new overhead and underground distribution work by external contractors. You will verify designs, ensure quality, and maintain records for project schedules and safety compliance.

The Field Inspector – SPP is responsible for monitoring and evaluating new overhead and underground distribution construction services of outside contractors using a ZERO-accident philosophy, monitoring daily work activities to ensure contractors and subcontractors are supporting the overall project schedule. Verify distribution designs of overhead and underground construction work requests to ensure materials, drawings and methods of installation are accurate. Ensure the quality of all work performed while identifying critical construction items that may have potential impacting the work schedule. Monitor the project for Safe Work Practices (SWP), work rules, and Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) compliance. Acts as the TEC subject matter expert on contractor construction related issues in relation to TEC general rules and specifications.
Key Internal: Interfaces with Contracting Partners, Engineers, Planning Groups, and Managers. Communicates with Contractor Supervisors, Field Construction Supervisors, Construction Superintendents, and Operations Manager.
Key External: Customers, governmental agencies, developers, engineering firms, and contractors.
Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Required: Valid Florida driver's license and safe driving record.
Required: 5 years of operations experience in progressively more complex assignments, with at least 2 years underground and overhead distribution construction or design experience.
An Associate degree and 2 years of operations experience may be considered.
Preferred: Proven leadership on distribution construction projects, and other various assignments, of complexity and diversity. 4 years of TEC Lineworker experience.
Required: Thorough understanding of the construction, maintenance and operating facets of TEC’s underground and overhead electrical distribution systems, Safe Work Practices, and Contractor Safety Management Program. Must have good communication and organization skills to meet field audit quotas and work in a fast-paced environment. Must be capable of giving real-time design direction to contractors in all areas of TEC overhead and underground construction. Must be able to work around energized equipment.
Preferred: Working knowledge of TEC General Rules and Specifications, WorkPro, and GIS.
