Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Lighting Designer II to work with project teams on architectural lighting design, CAD/model production standards, and lighting calculations.

The role supports design presentations, documentation, and building certification credits while developing client relationships and contributing to marketing efforts. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in lighting design, a relevant degree, and strong skills in Revit, AGI32, and Autodesk tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering specializing in Lighting Design or closely related field.
  • 5 years of experience devoted to architectural lighting design.
  • Lighting Certified (LC) through NCQLP or ability to attain.
  • Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and/or Associate of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD).
  • Strong computer skills using AGI32, eLumtools, Revit, AutoCad and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in sustainable design.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective working individually and within team environments.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project teams on all aspects of the art, science and business of architectural lighting design.
  • Take responsibility for training and providing guidance to maintain CAD/model production standards.
  • Support design presentation and construction documentation production; perform lighting calculations, energy and economic calculations, and building certification credits.
  • Develop and build working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Support marketing efforts, development of qualification packages, and industry leadership.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
