WSP USA invites you to join our Lighting Design Intern program in 2027. You will work alongside award-winning designers and engineers on real projects from concept through construction.

The 12-week summer internship starts May 17, 2027, with opportunities across Arlington, VA, Los Angeles, CA, and Boston, MA. You must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate lighting design or related program and be eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in lighting design, architectural engineering, architecture, interior design, electrical engineering, or related field with anticipated graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in architectural lighting, daylighting, lighting controls, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of architectural lighting design tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn the fundamental principles of architectural lighting design.
• Support lighting designers on a variety of project types and market sectors.
• Perform lighting calculations and assist with lighting analysis using industry-standard tools.
• Prepare materials for client presentations, design reviews, and project meetings.
• Assist with lighting mock-ups, product evaluations, and design studies.
• Participate in project research, field investigations, and site observations.
• Help prepare design documentation, specifications, and technical deliverables.
• Support construction-phase services, including responses to RFIs and shop drawing reviews.
• Assist in collecting, organizing, and maintaining project documentation.
• Participate in collaborative design discussions with architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and policies.
