Job summary

QVC Group in West Chester, PA is seeking a Lighting Assistant - On Call to support the Lighting team for studio and remote broadcasts. You will perform daily technical tasks and assist in lighting design and maintenance under supervision. The role requires a Bachelor’s in TV Broadcasting or related field and 1+ years of lighting experience.

Familiarity with DMX, Ethernet, and lighting consoles is preferred. On-site work with potential for travel to remote productions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in TV Broadcasting, Theatrical Lighting, and/or Film
• 1+ years of Lighting; Design, Technical or Engineering experience in television, theatrical or entertainment lighting required.
• Experience trouble-shooting lighting equipment and systems required.
• Experience with entertainment lighting dimming systems, Ethernet and DMX control systems/protocol, intelligent lighting and systems design and installation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled checks of set lighting to ensure that fixtures and gel are in good working condition and focused correctly.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on lighting systems and equipment.
• Support the execution of Remote Broadcast lighting, including possible on-site work and truck loading/unloading.
• Program the lighting consoles as necessary, understanding basic operations and functions.
• Under supervision, hang and focus additional lighting equipment for new positions or specialty shows.
• Track times for specialty shows and projects using existing software.
• Track movement or installation of lighting equipment using existing software.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and promote safe-use practices.

The Lighting Assistant - On Call supports QVC & HSN. Under the direction of the Manager of Broadcast Lighting, On Call Lighting Assistants support the efforts of the entire Lighting team to enhance the lighting of every studio and remote broadcast for QVC and HSN. You will perform daily technical and design maintenance under the supervision and guidance of the Lighting Designer & Lighting Engineer. You will also react quickly to critical situations that occur in live broadcast, and support any other lighting activities including live productions, streaming productions and remote productions.

Where You'll Work

This role is onsite and will require you to work from our West Chester, PA location. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

What You'll Do

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled checks of set lighting to ensure that all fixtures and gel are in good working condition and focused correctly.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on lighting systems and equipment.
• Support the execution of Remote Broadcast lighting. This includes possible work on-site, as well as equipment prep and truck loading & unloading.
• Program the lighting consoles as necessary. Understand basic operations and functions of the lighting console.
• Under the supervision of the Lighting Designer and Associate Lighting Designer, hang and focus any additional lighting equipment needed for new positions, or specialty shows.
• Utilize existing software to track times associated with specialty shows and additional programming or projects.
• Utilize existing software to track the movement or installation of all lighting equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, and promote all safe-use practices through the use of safety guidelines.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in TV Broadcasting, Theatrical Lighting, and/or Film
• 1+ years of Lighting; Design, Technical or Engineering experience in television, theatrical or entertainment lighting required.
• Experience trouble-shooting lighting equipment and systems required.
• Experience with entertainment lighting diming systems, Ethernet and DMX control systems/protocol, intelligent lighting and systems design and installation is preferred.
