Job summary

Regional Transportation District (RTD) in Denver, CO seeks an operator for light rail transit, ensuring safe, courteous, and efficient service on routine and special routes. The role emphasizes defensive driving, clear public announcements, and responsive passenger assistance.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least nineteen (19) years of age.
Valid driver's license for past 2 years; no DUI, DWI, or reckless driving in past 5 years.
Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate for at least one year.
Ability to pass RTD's Physical Ability Assessment (PAA) related to the job requirements.

Responsibilities

Operates LRV in revenue and non-revenue service in compliance with RTD rules.
Provides customer service information in a courteous manner.
Ensures accessibility for wheelchair and ADA passengers.
Completes accident and incident reports at end of shift.
Operates LRV and related equipment safely; assists with maintenance functions as needed.
Reports unusual occurrences to the Controller and follows procedures.
Works unusual hours, split shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
