Job summary

A leading dairy cooperative in Portage, Wisconsin, is seeking a light production worker to monitor food safety and quality processes in the manufacturing plant. The role includes responsibilities such as product inspection, assisting with sanitation, and training new staff. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Monitor procedures to prevent product contamination and waste.
  • Verify quality control for product weights, coding, uniformity, and packaging.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Communicate effectively with plant personnel.
  • Verify quality control items such as weights, coding, uniformity and packaging.
  • Maintain proper documentation and recordkeeping across formats.
  • Assist with sanitation and housekeeping throughout the plant.
  • Assist with training new employees.
  • Provide assistance to maintenance personnel for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to GMP, safety, sanitation and policies and report nonconformities.

Job description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award‑winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co‑op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co‑op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  • This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  • Duties of the light production worker may include stack and feed, inspection of product, case product, apply labels, relief, weigh food processing waste and record.
  • Monitors procedures and working conditions that could result in product contamination or excessive waste.
  • Communicates effectively with plant personnel.
  • Verify quality control items such as product weights, coding, uniformity, and packaging.
  • Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping.
  • Assist with sanitation and housekeeping throughout the plant.
  • Adhere to all aspects of company and customer safety, sanitation and policies.
  • Assists with training new employees.
  • Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Adheres to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Adheres to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
