Job summary

Knox County is seeking a Light Equipment Operator 2 to support highway and grounds maintenance activities. The role involves operating tractors with bush hogs, dump trucks, and assisting multiple departments with concrete, asphalt, and drainage tasks.

The position requires a valid Tennessee CDL and a DOT pre-employment drug screen. It is safety sensitive and may involve on-site outdoor work year-round.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years experience in highway and grounds maintenance and operation of light motor equipment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee Commercial Drivers License.
• Applicants who are offered this job MUST take a DOT pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Operates tractor with bush hog attachment to mow right of ways.
• Operates tandem axle dump trucks with consistent hauling of equipment and materials.
• Assists the Highway Department in the completion of various tasks to include the application of concrete and asphalt surfaces.
• Assists the Drainage Department in the completion of various tasks to include laying drain tiles.
• Drives truck to deliver workers, tools, supplies, and equipment to job sites as necessary.
• Cleans, changes oil, and otherwise services machines and other equipment
