Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society in Bentonville is hiring Lifesaving & Care Coordinators to support adoption programs and daily animal care at Lifesaving Centers. You will help connect animals with loving homes, coordinate foster and adoption events, and provide compassionate customer service to visitors and adopters.

The role involves enrichment, volunteer coordination, dog and cat handling, and collaboration across departments to advance the no-kill mission.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams and implementing programs preferred but not required.
• Strong communications skills.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred but not required.
• Customer-centric approach to engaging adopters, partners, visitors and volunteers.
• Ability to work with cats and dogs, including those with health/behavior concerns.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with shelter/animal management software.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate kindness and inclusivity in daily actions and interactions.
• Promote, coordinate, and facilitate animal placements including adoptions and foster programs.
• Develop knowledge of animals in Best Friends’ care and assist adopters and partners.
• Create a welcoming environment to enhance visitor satisfaction and support lifesaving goals.
• Provide and coordinate volunteer support for feeding, cleaning, walking, and medicating animals.
• Coordinate daily enrichment and training to improve emotional wellbeing and reduce length of stay.
• Oversee dog playgroups and ensure safe handling practices.
• Maintain clean workspaces and animal housing, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Understand Best Friends programs to match animals with adopters or transfer partners.
• Assist in creating engaging content for social media and collaborate with marketing teams.
• Represent Best Friends in media relations when requested and maintain brand voice.
• Collaborate with teams to improve processes and ensure clear communication and data handling.
• Maintain a safe workplace and adhere to safety practices.
