Job summary

SPCA of Texas is seeking a Specialist of Lifesaving Programs to support Adoptions and Foster teams, ensuring smooth operations, animal care continuity, and a positive experience for adopters and fosters. You will collaborate with medical, behavior, intake and volunteer teams to maintain workflows and maximize lifesaving while providing exceptional customer service to our community.

The role requires flexible hours, strong communication, and a commitment to lifesaving in a fast-paced shelter

Qualifications

Experience in animal sheltering or rescue work preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with empathy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Willingness to work weekends and variable shifts.
Must be at least 21 and eligible to operate a vehicle in Texas.

Responsibilities

Greet visitors and assist prospective adopters in matching with adoptable pets.
Counsel adopters on adoption and post-adoption support, including behavioral/medical needs.
Ensure animals are up to date on vaccines, preventatives, and medications before adoption.
Assist with inquiries via phone/email and maintain shelter records in the database.
Track visitor data via Trello and support end-of-day reconciliation tasks.
Monitor and respond to foster inquiries; manage pick-ups/drop-offs and supplies.
Provide medication, preventatives, and basic medical explanations to foster parents.
Support weekend medical needs and track foster placements.
Draft weekend updates for social media and internal communications.
