Qualifications

• Indiana certification as an Emergency Medical Technician issued by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security required, or national certification with Indiana certification within 30 days.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department.
• Requires Indiana state driver's license.
• Valid Motor Vehicle Record may be required for employment.

Responsibilities

• Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, nonemergencies and interhospital transports.
• Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital.
• Performs non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as CPR, AED, and bone splinting.
• Performs specialized life sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service.
• Responsible for providing immediate emergency care and transport of the critically ill or injured.
