Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis, IN seeks an Emergency Medical Technician to respond in an emergency medical vehicle to scenes of reported emergencies, nonemergencies, and interhospital transports. You will provide immediate basic life support to patients at the scene, en route, and in the hospital, performing CPR, AED use, bone splinting, and related life-saving tasks.

A valid Indiana driver's license and a Motor Vehicle Record may be required.

Qualifications

• Indiana EMT certification required or national certification with 30 days to obtain Indiana EMT.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit policies.

Job description

Full Time/Three 12 hour shifts (set schedule), Indianapolis, IN

Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, nonemergency's and interhospital transports. Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital. Performs non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED), and bone splinting. Performs specialized life sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service. Responsible for providing immediate emergency care and transport of the critically ill or injured. A valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record report may be required for this role. Consideration of employment for this role may be contingent upon the results of the Motor Vehicle Record report.

• Indiana Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician issued by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security required, or must be nationally certified and able to obtain the Indiana EMT Certification within 30 days of start of employment.
• Basic Life Support certification through the America Heart Association required.
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Requires Indiana State drivers' license.
