Job summary

YMCA of Frederick County is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety of participants in and around the pool area. The part-time position includes benefits such as Free Membership (Individual) and MD Sick leave for eligible employees.

Qualifications include American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, plus a Frederick County Pool Operators license if applicable. Must be at least 15 years old and capable of working evenings and weekends.

Advises Aquatics Director or designee of action taken.Maintains knowledge of the pump room.Performs maintenance duties when assigned.LifeguardMonitors and watches the pools during all aquatic activities following established YMCA procedures.Is familiar with and prepared to use the Emergency Procedures when an emergency occurs at the pool.Maintains lifeguard safety equipment on person at all times while on active surveillance duty.Performs rescue measures and appropriate care when required.QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:Certifications:American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguarding Certification, including CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First AidAdministering Emergency Oxygen (must be acquired within 90 days of hire)Lifeguards at Camp West Mar must acquire Waterfront Lifeguard Certification before the start of the camp season.Frederick County Pool Operators license and Y-USA Lifeguard Supervisor Essentials Training if functioning in a Pool Operator capacity.Ability to comprehend simple instructions, written correspondence; present information in an oral format; read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures; and speak effectively in front of people.At least 15 years of age. (Must be at least 16 to take on Pool Operations responsibilities)
