Job summary

Ymca of Greater Springfield, Inc is seeking an aquatic program staff member to maintain a safe and engaging environment for members and participants. Responsibilities include supervising the pool area, administering emergency care, and promoting water safety through instruction and activities.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma/GED, customer-facing experience, and current CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2 certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, graduating soon preferred.
• 1 year of customer-facing experience preferred.
• Earn and maintain CPR, First Aid, AED, and oxygen certifications within 60 days of start.
• Be able to administer CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe aquatics environment through patrols and emergency response.
• Prevent incidents related to aquatic programming and areas.
• Serve as a certified first responder and administer first aid as needed.
• Grow water safety skills among participants and community.
• Provide instruction and a safe atmosphere that aligns with Y core values.
• Organize lesson plans, checklists, and attendance; engage children.
• Ensure safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all aquatics programs.
• Role may be adjusted to meet operational needs.
