Job summary

Vassar College seeks a Lifeguard for Kresge Pool to ensure a safe, welcoming aquatic environment and to support a variety of programs, including open swim and varsity practices.

The role requires current Lifeguarding and CPR certifications and availability Monday through Sunday, as needed by the department. Training is provided, and compensation is $17 per hour with on-site scheduling.

Qualifications

• Hold current Lifeguarding certification.
• Hold current CPR certification.
• In-Service Training is required for all hired staff.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool activities, weather conditions, enforce facility policies and safety rules, provide first aid and CPR as needed, and respond to aquatic emergencies.
• Supervise patron check-in, complete daily opening and closing procedures, maintain medical and first aid supplies, and assist in overall pool operations.
• Support programs including open swim, varsity team practices, physical education classes, and related activities.

Position Summary

Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons using Kresge Pool by maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-supervised aquatic environment.

This position requires availability Monday through Sunday, varying on departmental needs.

• Support a variety of programs, including open swim, varsity team practices, physical education classes, and more.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Hold current Lifeguarding and CPR certifications, that are accepted by Vassar College. All certifications must remain valid through, please note NYS outlines that CPR certifications are valid for 1 year only. Vassar does offer recertifications for employees once they are hired.

In Service Training is required by all hired staff and will be organized upon hiring.

Pay Rate: $17 per hour
