Job Title

Lifeguard (Temp)

Job Description Summary

The part‑time lifeguard will enforce pool rules, complete daily logs, provide guest service, and provide emergency care when needed. In addition, the lifeguard will be assigned operational tasks for Sheerr Pool as needed.

Job Responsibilities

Rule Enforcement – 35%

• Enforce the pool rules consistently.
• Aggressively scan the pool using the 10/20 guideline (10 seconds to spot, 20 seconds to respond).

Facility Operations – 35%

• Complete daily checks and checklists as required.
• Work special events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Handle pool opening/closing duties.

Safety – 20%

• Perform appropriate rescues and provide care appropriate to the situation.
• Enforce social distancing and other COVID‑related guidelines.
• Meet evaluation expectations and safety audits, including orientation quizzes and other follow‑ups.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Other – 10%

• Assist with Penn OpenPass verification.
• Verify member reservations.
• Maintain a courteous and polite demeanor.

Qualifications

All candidates must hold a current American Lifeguard certification and maintain a safe and welcoming aquatic environment at Sheerr Pool. Proof of valid certification will be required prior to hiring.
