The City of Independence Parks & Recreation Department is committed to excellence in programming, facilities, and service, aiming to improve the quality of life within our community. We are looking for lifeguards to ensure the safety of residents and guests through preventative strategies and water safety education. Lifeguards also act as first responders to incidents and emergencies within aquatic facilities.
This seasonal position runs from May 2025 through September 2025. Lifeguards are scheduled to work Sunday through Saturday, between 5:30 AM and 9 PM, up to 40 hours per week. Some weeks may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
While performing duties, employees must see, speak, and hear regularly. They must frequently stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments under Ohio weather conditions is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
