Valley Health System LifeStyles in Mahwah is seeking an experienced lifeguard to maintain a safe, sanitary environment and support members in improving swimming and water safety skills. The role requires current Red Cross Lifeguard, BLS, and First Aid certifications, with WSI preferred, and emphasizes strong communication and teamwork.

The position offers an evening shift and comprehensive benefits as part of Valley Health LifeStyles Fitness Center within the Mahwah location.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or the equivalent.
• Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification required.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Current Red Cross Standard First Aid or equivalent required.
• Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred.
• Effective group process skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills to express ideas clearly.
• Effective listening skills.
• Attention to detail; able to switch tasks without loss of efficiency.
• Ability to work in stressful, changing environments and emergencies.
• Able to cooperate with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Time management to set priorities and respond quickly.
