Valley Health System in Mahwah LifeStyles is seeking a lifeguard to maintain a safe, sanitary environment for members and to improve swimming and water safety skills. The role reports to the Manager of Aquatic & Recreation activities and emphasizes emergency readiness and customer service.

Qualifications

• Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification required.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Red Cross Standard First Aid or equivalent required.
• Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred - Effective group process skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills to express ideas clearly.
• Effective listening skills.
• Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
• Ability to function competently in stressful situations and the changing work environment related to changing client needs.
• Ability to work cooperatively with clients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members.
