Job summary

The YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area is seeking a Lifeguard to protect pool patrons by enforcing rules, maintaining a safe pool area, and ensuring clean, hazard-free conditions. You will monitor activities from the deck, respond to emergencies promptly, and keep accurate safety records.

Position requires certification in lifeguarding with CPR, AED, and First Aid. You will work with a team to uphold safety standards and provide a welcoming, safe environment for all swimmers.

Qualifications

• Must hold American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification (including CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid).
• Ability to maintain certification and readiness for lifeguard duties.
• Demonstrated ability to enforce pool safety rules and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain active surveillance of the pool area and respond to emergencies per YMCA procedures.
• Complete required incident and safety reports.
• Maintain positive relations with members, participants and staff; enforce safety policies.
