Job summary

City of McKinney seeks a dependable Lifeguard to help keep guests safe at the pool facilities. Primary duty is safety, with back-up for other Parks and Recreation tasks. You will monitor the pool, greet guests, perform maintenance, and participate in mandatory trainings and special events.

Must be at least 15, able to swim 500 yards, and hold lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications. This role requires reliability, teamwork, and a willingness to adapt to changing schedules in a fast-paced city

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pool safety procedures and how to prevent accidents.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
• Strong interpersonal and public relations skills when interacting with guests.
• Ability to work as part of a team and support coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Scan pool area to detect safety concerns and perform preventative lifeguarding.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies promptly and effectively.
• Provide professional service and greet guests by name.
• Monitor pool areas to maintain cleanliness and assist with daily operations.
• Attend mandatory trainings and in-service meetings; participate in events and rentals.
• Test pool environment for proper chemical levels and safety measures.
• Complete records and reports (time sheets, incidents, cleaning).
• Comply with City policies; arrive on time for shifts.
