Job summary

The Greater Somerset County YMCA, Inc. is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to ensure safe swimming conditions across the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. This on-site role supports the Aquatic team and promotes member safety and engagement in line with YMCA policies.

Responsibilities include surveillance, responding to emergencies, assisting with swim lessons, and maintaining equipment and records. Certifications required include CPR, AED, and First Aid, with YMCA lifeguard eligibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15.
• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
• Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
• Address member concerns and direct members to program areas or lane needs.
• Assist with swim lessons and deck supervision as needed.
• Respond to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Apply safety rules and maintain accurate pool records as required.
