Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA, Inc. is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions and an engaging environment for members.

You will monitor the pool, deck, and surrounding areas, respond to emergencies, and help support the aquatic team in daily operations. Responsibilities include supervising swimmers, assisting with lessons, performing equipment checks, completing required reports, and upholding YMCA safety procedures and standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
• Ability to maintain certification readiness
• Complies with safety rules and procedures

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Addresses member concerns and directs members to program areas.
• Assists with swim lessons and deck supervision.
• Responds to emergencies and completes required reports.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures available equipment.
• Maintains records as required by YMCA and state Health Department code.
• Walks pool perimeter and scans bottom before lifeguard stand.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
