Under the direction of the Aquatics Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Lifeguard should be able to motivate others in the areas of self-awareness and self-confidence through swimming and aquatics, be able to motivate and effectively communicate with members, parents, and students, and exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making.
Individuals considered for this job must pass an advanced swimming and rescue skills test. YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross lifeguard certification is required. Candidates must be at least 15 years old and possess the ability to exercise mature judgment, relate positively yet firmly with people, be observant, safety-conscious, react calmly in emergencies, communicate YMCA programs effectively, lift at least 50 lbs, and have full body mobility. Certifications in Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED must be obtained and maintained.
