Job summary

Prosper ISD Natatorium in Prosper, Texas is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to provide a safe and orderly environment during swimming activities and events.

You will perform rescues as needed, administer CPR and first aid, and enforce pool rules while maintaining constant patron surveillance and calm response in emergencies.

Responsibilities include completing safety checks, assisting with facility setup, and participating in staff trainings to uphold high customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving techniques.
  • Knowledge of lifeguarding surveillance.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and procedures related to infectious or hazardous materials.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to follow and enforce pool procedures, regulations, and rules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Ensure that the pool and facility rules, policies, and procedures are followed in order to maintain a safe swimming environment.
  • Responsible for self-scheduling and finding coverage when missing a shift.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-service lifeguard trainings.
  • Adhere to all Prosper ISD policies and procedures.
  • Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean, safe, and well‑maintained facility.
  • Prepare pool set up requirements as directed by the Natatorium Management team such as, but not limited to, moving lane line and setting up Daktronics timing system for meets.
  • Follow a rotation of stations as directed by the Natatorium Management team.
  • Complete facility safety checks and reports as directed.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and communicate supply or equipment needs to Head Lifeguard, Natatorium Supervisor or Director.
  • Participate in and assist with Natatorium events as directed.
  • Maintain fitness (swimming skills, strength, and endurance) at the level at which certification occurred with the American Red Cross as a lifeguard.
  • Maintain current certifications including any additional safety training.
  • Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high standard of customer service and positive public relations.
  • Perform other miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

Job Description

Pay: $15 per hour/Days: Hourly basis

Primary Purpose: Under general supervision provide a safe and orderly environment at the Natatorium, including but not limited to acting as a first responder in the case of an emergency for any swimming activity or event at the Prosper ISD Natatorium. Lifeguards should be prepared to make appropriate rescues for any victim, perform CPR for any breathing or cardiac emergency, as well as provide minor first aid care.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving techniques
  • Knowledge of and skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and procedures related to the possibility of infectious or hazardous materials
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Stand and/or remain in a pool for a significant period of time without a break. Additional physical efforts may include walking, climbing stairs, bending over, reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, balancing, pushing or pulling, lifting or carrying weighted items, repetitive use of hands, arms, legs, and hand/eye coordination. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
