Job summary

The City of Carson is seeking a Lifeguard Instructor for its Community Services / Recreation / Park Maintenance Department. This is a part-time/temporary, at-will role with a maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year.

Lifeguards will enforce rules, monitor pools, perform rescues, and render CPR/First Aid as needed. Certifications in ARC Lifeguard Training and Standard First Aid are required to qualify for the position.

Qualifications

• CPR and first aid knowledge required.
• Education sufficient to read/write at required level.
• ARC Lifeguard Training and Standard First Aid certificates are required.

Responsibilities

• Enforce pool rules and regulations.
• Monitor pool and surrounding area to prevent emergencies.
• Rescue bathers as needed.
• Provide CPR & first aid when necessary.
• Maintain and clean pool area.
• Prepare reports of rescues or unusual occurrences.
• Explain policies to the public.
