Job summary

Loudoun County Government's Parks, Recreation & Community Services is hiring certified lifeguards for summer and year-round opportunities at indoor and outdoor pools across the county. The role focuses on safety, prevention, and excellent customer service for a diverse community.

Responsibilities include monitoring facilities, performing rescues, contacting EMS as needed, enforcing rules, and providing courteous service.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard I/II certification required or obtainable within 30 days of hire.
• Must be at least 15 years old for Lifeguard I; HS Diploma for Lifeguard II.
• Criminal background check, Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor use of aquatic facilities to ensure safety and policy compliance.
• Rescue distressed persons using approved techniques and equipment.
• Contact EMS in case of serious injury and provide emergency care as needed.
• Enforce pool rules and provide courteous customer service to staff and visitors.
• Refer customers to appropriate staff and support operational needs.
• Flexible work hours including mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

We are actively recruiting certified lifeguards for both summer and year-round opportunities at our indoor and outdoor pools located throughout the county. As a certified lifeguard, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our diverse communities through your expertise. The successful candidate will have a positive outlook, excellent communication skills, and a high level of self-motivation. PRCS serves a broad spectrum of the population, including youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the use of aquatic facilities and equipment to ensure visitor and participant safety within the facility and compliance with applicable safety policies and practices.
• Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment.
• Contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required.
• Enforces pool rules.
• Provides courteous and timely customer service to County staff, facility visitors and users.
• Refers customers to appropriate staff.
• Other key job duties relevant to the specific role and department may also be performed.
• Flexible work hours are available, including early mornings, daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays – to work around your school, vacations, work.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard I (Grade 103): Must be at least 15 years of age and hold the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at the time of hire or obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Lifeguard II (Grade 104): Must have HS Diploma (or equivalent) and hold the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at time of hire or obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Must undergo a criminal background check. Obtain Lifeguard Certification; First Aid Certification; and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
