Job summary

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring that all members participating in swimming activities enjoy a safe, harm-free experience by setting and implementing rules and supervising the swimming area.

Directly supervise and guard youth participants and staff in the swimming pools, assist in pool maintenance to ensure safe operation, and complete required daily reports and trainings. This role supports BCNY's youth programs and community services in New York City.

Qualifications

• One year or more of pool lifeguard or related experience.
• Leadership experience in educational or youth settings.
• Knowledge of pool safety, supervision, and maintenance.
• Current Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross.
• First Aid and CPR certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and guard youth participants and staff in the swimming pools
• Assist in maintenance of pool areas and ensure safe operation
• Take initiative, solve problems, and respond to situations in pool areas
• Complete daily reports
• Attend department meetings and trainings
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $22.00 per hour

Schedule: 21.5 hours per week

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and guard youth participants and staff in the swimming pools
• Assist in the regular maintenance of swimming pool areas, ensuring their safe operation
• Take initiative, provide problem solving, and respond appropriately, to participant situations in swimming pool areas
• Ensure that all necessary reports are completed on a daily basis
• Attend required department meetings and professional development trainings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience as a pool lifeguard, instructor, or comparable
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational, social service and/or youth development setting
• Familiarity with principles of supervision, organization, and maintenance
• Current Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross required
• First Aid and CPR Certification required
